Asia\u2019s Top REITs Players Views Overseas Markets & Innovation As Growth Drivers. 22 REITs Players Honoured At The Asia Pacific Best Of The Breeds REITs Awards<\/strong><\/h2>\n

2 August 2018, Singapore \u2013 Over 22 top Asian REITs players were awarded top honours at the Asia Pacific Best Of The Breeds REITs Awards<\/strong> which ended on 2nd August 2018 at Sheraton Towers Hotel, Singapore. Attended by 150 delegates from the region, this prestigious recognition event was held in conjunction with the 5th REITs Asia Pacific Conference 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The prior REITs Asia Pacific conferences were trailblazers and were instrumental in developing investor interest in the Singapore and Asian REITs market. At this year\u2019s 2018 edition, 25 industry professionals across the REITs sector namely from banks, asset and REIT managers, tax advisors, lawyers, developers and real estate advisors, spoke at the event. They were unanimous in affirming the need for innovation and seeking new opportunities in overseas markets like China against the backdrop of a slowing and highly competitive local property scene. David Faulkner, Managing Director of Colliers International commented that recent technology advances and artificial intelligence will provide the much needed boost to the Asian retail landscape. The China market was the hot topic of the event with speaker Ken Chew, Chief Investment Officer of Sasseur Asset Management highlighted that China\u2019s ever growing disposable income provides a strong and steady growth for the retail and e- commerce sector. Such developments hold tremendous potential for Asia Pacific\u2019s REITs sector.<\/p>\n

REITs hold many benefits to the overall economic development of a country especially for developing economies like China, India and Philippines where REITs free up capital for real estate and infrastructure, attracting long-term investors such as sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and insurance companies.<\/p>\n

The conference ended with The Asia Pacific Best of the Breeds REITs Awards 2018<\/strong> graced by Associate Professor Tien Foo Sing as the Award\u2019s ceremony guest of honour. Professor Tien Foo Sing is Dean\u2019s Chair Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of Real Estate Studies (IRES). He currently serves as the President-elect of the Asian Real Estate Society (AsRES) (2018-2019), and is a board member of AsRES (since 2000) and Global Chinese Real Estate Congress (GCREC) (since 2008).<\/p>\n

The Asia Pacific Best of the Breeds REITs Awards 2018<\/strong> is a coveted award to recognize companies and managers with the highest standards and performance in the Asia Pacific REITs sector. The scoring methodology is based on a number of attributes with assigned weightages to credit ratings, gearing, market cap, yield, weight asset lease expiry or WALE, quality of manager, YTD returns and DPU or Distribution per unit and the sustainability of the REIT.
